Good luck with the test running. You don't really need a pipe for the exhaust. The A4 is not particularly loud and with no load, you can't run it much above idle.

Run a line underneath the boat to support the centerboard in the retracted position , then slack the pennant way off .. Double.triple check the support line , even double it up , as a runaway centerboard is an ugly situation.

Thanks for the various....
...words of wisdom. All really helpful.
Center board: yes, very much in the way! If you look at post #1 of this thread, you'll see the black hose that has the pendant inside. Double line underneath the board and letting out slack sounds like a good plan.
Exhaust pipe: thanks for letting me know it's not needed!
Moving the A4 forward and back: I'll have a burly friend along. I have rotator cuff and sciatica issues well managed but always lurking when I do something stupid. Plan on lots of lines as this whole aspect makes me nervous!
PCV Valve: Still wondering if it needs to be vertical?
Captains Confessions: wish I had looked at that before! I'll add my two bits.
Paint job comments: thanks! But now I'm afraid to get her dirty or wet.

water intake alarm? Water flow Q?
A neighbour with a diesel power boat stated he has a $30 alarm on his raw water intake. Anyone have that on their A4? Sounds like a good idea.
Also, he swore up and down that the A4 engine will overheat and seize in less than a minute without water flow. I know our boat has run much longer than that when we forgot to open the intake one time, with no ill effects. Can anyone explain?
Thanks!Marty

I installed the Moyer high temp/low oil pressure alarm kit, just in case. Seems money well spent to me, for a little piece of mind so I don't have to obsessively check the oil pressure and water temp gauges.
Not that I don't anyway.- Bill T.

"Good" compared to what?
It is not as conductive of either heat or electricity as copper is, but it definitely will conduct both.- Bill T.

oil pressure problem...help please!
Spent the day trying to get er started! Turns over fine with no plugs in, but no oil pressure shows on the gauge.
Thought at first it must be a gauge or sender problem. Went over the connections a dozen times and then got excited when I thought I had the key: pressure sender is on the Indigo oil filter assembly....forgot to add a ground wire as listed in the directions. Added that wire, still reading no pressure reading at the gauge. Tried screwing down the Indigo's pressure regulator to increase flow....no change. Remembered a post about teflon tape blocking current. Tore that out, but still no go.
Decided I better see if oil was flowing. Removed hose and cranked: oil comes out of oil sensor port in a slow gush. Not sure what it should be: was about 100 ml in about 30 seconds. Way more than a dribble, but not shooting out either. Pulled the hose from the outlet port of the Indigo oil filter assembly and it was bone dry.
So: wondering if I have completely messed up how the Indigo pressure should be set, or is there a fault somewhere else (oil pump?) that doesn't push the oil hard enough to get past the pressure reg? Or a blockage in the Indigo system somewhere....faulty filter cartridge?
Not sure how to proceed: any advice welcome! Dying to put the plugs in and fire her up!!!!
Thanks!Marty
