I have a mostly complete A4 that, if I recall correctly, was working when it was removed from a boat 20+ years ago. Could be very wrong though, as it was given to me for spare parts when I bought my last boat along with many, many other things. Took these photos during my last trip out on my newly acquired Ericson 27. I am new to stuffing boxes. I have been reading about them and their need to drip. Obviously, all this corrosion is not good. Please comment on what you can glean from these photos. Your advice and would be greatly appreciated.... -

Afourians, this summer I raced my 1972 C&C 30 MK with a late-model A4 at Dillon Reservoir, Colorado, altitude 9,000 ft. The engine's power was definitely affected compared to at her home waters, Chatfield Reservoir, Colorado, altitude 5,437 ft. Even at Chatfield she could stand to have more power....
