1978 Catalina 30 in Erie, Pennsylvania

Good morning, all. I am looking for some input on what to do with my C30.

I purchased this boat a number of years ago, used it some, did work on refitting. That work was intermittent due to health issues and family commitments. I keep plodding along because I assumed I would have ample time when I retired.

I have now retired and, at least for now, have no health issues pending. However, family circumstances are leading to a move and I cannot see moving the boat across the country, much less to a destination which will require a two hour drive or so to where the boat can be in the water.

The boat is still middle of project and so has no sales value.

There is a Moyer new block A4 sitting in the boat.

It will cost me $4,000 to scrap the boat. It costs me $1,400 per year to keep boat at marina.

    My thoughts:

    (1) Preferred option: give away if anyone wants: they pay cost of transportation to get it to them.

    (2) Second option: remove engine and sell engine. Scrap remainder of boat.

    Am I missing anything?

    Thanks!

As far as pricing on the engine - not quite sure. It is a new block Moyer - hardly run. I have additional stuff - Indigo FWC, oil filter kit, tensioning arm, alternator, belts, water-lift muffler, and other stuff I am sure I do not remember now. Was thinking I would package all together. Probably $5,000 and purchaser pays for their shipping.

Good question - will have to make a list.

Following further analysis, found a way to keep boat.

So, following relocation, etc., hope to be back at it.

          Thanks!
