    Our 5,000th Member

We just added our 5,000th member, "shawnb." The number had previously climbed above 5,000, but that was before we did our daily purge of bad guys from the Ukraine, India, etc, which dropped the true total back below 5,000.

edit: Just noticed. This was co-incident with our 64,000th post.

        What?

You mean we had "bad guys" here? Just bring 'em up here on deck, Cap'n, and we'll have a little keel party.

5000? How many Atomic 4s were manufactured? I've heard 40000 built with 20000 still running. Does this mean 25% of the current owners are on this forum. Cool!

If there are 20,000 A-4s out there still runnning sooner or later all of them will end up here. I am still amazed at how many there are just at our small club and how many of those didn't even know about Moyer. Just like everyone else I am always passing on the Moyer connection to the poor uninformed A-4 owners wherever they may be.

Congrats. Don't know what I would do without such a great resource.

                    10%!!

I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing..only ~2,000 to go until I catch up! I'll reserve my new water tank plumbing and epoxy work on the boat today for another post since they are not A-4 related. \

However, I will comment that the JB Weld-ing of the aft manifold stud appears to have gone swimmingly! Once I have the manifold's mating surface prepped I might re-install soon..but I've also noticed that I have a great opportunity to do some block painting with the great access I currently have to the port side of the engine.

Sometimes I look to see if he (Shawn) is blaiming anything else on me. That was a good thread and I got to be the heel.

An awesome site to say the least!

Dave..it is still your fault..but so far I like the prop.

We'll see how things go when I pull her for paint and bottom maintenance this spring....if it ever warms up here in Maryland!!

One of the things I did this weekend was think about you and that whole thread when I (hopefully) secured the engine mount lag screws in epoxy to keep everything aligned. Today we had some snow, so it might take days for it to cure.

                              Edward,

Snow storm heading across the US supposed to head out to sea South of Nova Scotia...still waiting for some decent weather as well. This time last year I had the boat ready to go in the water and launched on March 30th. I have nothing done on the boat so far this year.

When I put the boat away last fall I commented that..."no major projects" ...I have however, made a to do list that will take a week of "nice warm weather".

If I can get this done I'm in good shape for another couple thousand miles.

                              -change impeller
                              -anode
                              -check and lube through hulls.
                              -install carb and run engine
-change oil and check engine for leaks, water, exhaust and fuel.
                              -cetol woodwork
-sand and varnish portions of interior near galley.
-sand topsides with 800 grit and polyglow topsides
                              -sand and paint bottom
-grease winches, repair self tailers winches. Lou, machinist friend, will take out sheared bolts
-jib to be looked over by Brad at Doyle…repair / stitch as required.
-stuffing box…6 yrs on old stuff…replace
