Hello, Forumites:
I am trying to help my son get his late-model Atomic 4 running.
Someone borrowed my Moyer manual a while ago and didn't return it.
I have been looking for a trouble shooting sequence list on the foum, but haven't been able to find one. If anyone could point the way to one, I would greatly appreciate it.
In the meantime, here's a quick rundown on the problem, if anyone would like to try to point the way with minimal information:
The engine was running about a month ago with a cheap, knockoff fuel pump from whoknowswhere.
My son found a used Facet that runs on the bench, removed the old one, clipped the wires and put the Facet on, guessing at how the wires might go.
I think I have the wires on properly now, with a hot wire running from the coil to one side of the pressure sensor, and the fuel pump wire running to the other side. There is a third wire coming from the solenoid, which I spliced into the fuel pump wire. (Not so sure about this part.)
The immediate problem, however, is that the engine will not turn over, even with no fuel pump hooked up.
The battery is good and there is juice running into the solenoid.
I guess my question is, is there something that we might have done in messing around with the fuel pump that would have led to a no-crank situation?
If not, I will follow the troubleshooting sequence on the Forum – if there is one – assuming it might be a new problem independent of the fuel pump.
Thank you to anyone who might be interested in helping.
