A belated farewell to the Afourians

Some of you may have noticed my absence for a long while now (though I may flatter myself). At any event, I sold my Newport 28 back in the spring, to a nice family with a mooring in the Magothy, and so am done with sailing.

I'd like to thank everyone who offered advice to me in my newbie days, and also as I grew in experience. It was a great ride, but in the end it became more and more incovenient to take care of the boat at a distance of 50 miles, and the lack of family interest after six years took its toll as well.

So I'm back to golf! I'm not sure I do that any better than I sailed (26 handicap). However, it's a lot closer to home, and I can decide to partake at a moment's notice without a two-hour round trip.

To all my fellow Afourians, fair winds and following seas! Keep 'em humming, and take care.

    Jeese Balt S,

Sorry to hear the boat didn't work out for you. Fair winds, once a sail'r always a sail'r.

    Take Care.

Please stop back often. I'm glad to have met you (electronically), glad your memories will be on a Newport. If you ever find yourself in the Los Angeles area there will always be an ice cold Pacifico Clara aboard Kalina with your name on it. We'll even drive by the old Capital Yachts facility where your boat was built.

BS (my favorite nickname on this forum!) ,

I like to play a little golf too. If I can keep my score out of 3 digits, I am happy. Let me know if you are ever in Southern Maryland, and I am sure we'd have a great time. We have 4 courses around here (2 public, one on a Navy base, & the other that will give you a tee time I think after the members) within 30 minutes.

2nd the BS nickname! (where's the like button?)
Now that you mention it, I have noticed an absence of postings from you.
Sorry to hear that owning a sailboat hasn't worked out for you and family.
It takes a certain kind of fool to sign the checks to keep a boat going!
Check in here whenever but don't be a total stranger.

Get a lazer or something. Dude, A sailor is forever.

I second what the others said. You always had some good, fun, polite, and helpful posts.

Drive down to south Maryland and bug those guys for a ride. Bring beer.

BS you have friends. Russ has a point. I'd have no problem taking you sailing if you are ever have cause to be hanging around Halifax NS.

Sorry to hear this, BS, it's been a pleasure keeping up with your Baltimore Banter.

                    > and the lack of family interest after six years took its toll as well.

Hopefully you've found your family a little more interesting now that the boat is out of the picture. I'm sure they appreciate it.

If yer in Huntington Beach look me up, may be good for a sail.

When you finally miss sailing enough there's always a god deal on a boat with an A-4 in need.

                            Shawn,
I have actually never used a Lazer, but my nice in Seattle is a middle schooler in the local fleet and she is doing quite well at it. She even smoked a few college-age kids in a regatta this fall.

Anyway, I wasn't naming names but I figured you and Laura were pretty nice to hang with, so I dropped the hint.

                            Balty,
Shawn likes that Blue Moon beer, sailing, and gloves!

                            Cheers,
