    Replaced exhaust manifold Stud

I replaced the exhaust rear manifold stud with a 7/16th threaded stud purchased from moyer.

Also I drilled a 7/16 to bore the original hole larger through the manifold to replace the stud without removing the manifold, very very very long story short mission accomplished.

The new stud is in as solid as can be, the engine runs great but... there is a very small amount of water dripping from where the nut is on the new stud.

Is this because I drilled the hole on the manifold a bit larger?

    any ideas.

Did you use a thread sealant in the block?

No I did not, I used a helicoil. Are you suggesting that water is coming through the hole I tapped for the helicoil?

Exactly. The threads should be sealed with Permatex #2 (the thick goo).

I wonder if I can just remove the stud only and stuff a load of JD Weld or Permatex in the hole and push the stud back in without removing the manifold.

I would try that first but not with JB Weld.

well I have plenty of that red goo, I will give it a shot tomorrow and let it sit for a day so it can dry.

              Thanks for your help
