    As a general rule, clear anything + gasoline = non-compliance w/ USCG.

        I like the idea of a shut off near the carb because I don't trust the needle and seat to always do the job. You might consider the possibility that heat in the boat is expanding the fuel in the line and increasing the pressure on the N & S when you are shut down. This might especially be the case if you have a nice tight system from tank to carb. Another good reason to have a recirculating loop back to the tank to relieve pressure.
