    Greetings from Stonington,CT

Shawn - I'm not as fast as it seems; it's that I cannot get connected at every stop, even with the monster cord! From Beach Haven the next stop was the Glimmer Glass at Mannesquan, a great anchorage. As Jonathan said Hell Gate is really a non event after negotiating all the mayhem on the East River. From Manhasset Bay I went to Northport and then to Mattituck. Today after a 2 hour fog stop at Fisher's Island I ended up here. Don't worry about doing the NJICW in a Catalina 30 (just pay attention, and I keep my BOATUS towing insurance up to date

Thanks for the update, Hanley. Glad you are moving along! My wife is a native Bostonian, I think it would be nice to bring her up for a visit under our own keel someday.

I guess I am secretly scheming.

Shawn, you don't have to take the NJ ICW if the Atlantic Ocean is in reasonable condition. What can happen in that region is some passing storm has gone by, so the winds are down, but the waves are still pounding the beach and you don't want to be broadside and rolling in them all day.

You're scheming to tie your wife under the keel?

Good for you. I looked at the weather down your way yesterday and knew you would go for it...I would have. I know you will feel "sailed out" after that but go get on the boat after about 3 or 4 days rest to get yourself back into it....don't forget, winter comes fast. Still have all summer to play with

                          Preliminary Fuel Use

Have not filled the tanks yet in Edgartown so the figures show Titusville to Northport, NY. Gallons used: 233.2
                          Engine hours: 284.2
                          Gal/hour .82
Same number of refueling stops as trip south (14), but almost 100 gallons less! Further investigation to follow.

Hanley, good news. 100 gallons less? Does that mean you were using 50% more fuel on the way down?? ...or is that 33% more fuel???

I did see at least one pic of you sailing that PT26 took!!!

BTW - I have finally put that laptop chip into my bag so I can send it to you from work tomorrow..

                            Welcome home.

I would bet the gulf stream is helping with the push north
