When I switched to a Delco 10Si I had to relieve the alternator mounting/lifting eye bracket slightly to allow the larger case to rotate down sufficiently. In my case with the engine located under the dinette seat there is zero wiggle room in overall engine height.
Is it the alternator or the gauge

I wish I had known about Neil's genius alternator bracket mod before I had torqued down the head on the new motor.
I installed the alternator today... and my 10si case is contacting exactly where Neil marked up the photo. So now that I know there is a proven solution, I need to un-torque the head and take the hacksaw to it.
The good news, is I can do some touch up on paint that I marred with the tight fit of the alternator. Thanks,

if ity was me, I would take a small grinder / small hand tool, and grind those 2 corners on the engine directly, rather than taking the risk of loosening the head... just my 2 cents. Good luckSurcouf

Good luck. "Finishing your brightwork"...awesome. I have a 30 kt cold north wind blowing at my patio door right now, the boat is on the hard and I'm watching youtube video's of sailing (NBJS channel on youtube) and wishing I was 20 years younger. All the best.Mo

if I lived in Canada, I can tell you the $40 premium is still worth it.
When Neil turned me on to that stuff 10 years ago, I freaked out at how it suddenly solved all my problems with brightwork in a cold (45°F) garage. You use a capful in a quart. I still have the pint I bought 10 years ago.-Shawn

Another one bites the dust!
Alternator is in and putting out 14.2 volts. The ammeter is working correctly, however why they put an ammeter with at +- 60 amp reading on this engine is kinda weird, but whatever. Per one suggestion, I will probably run the alternator directly to the battery and replace the ammeter with a voltmeter. Oh and the alternator did bolt right up with no issues. Thanks again for all of the help. Now I discovered a battery switch issue that I need to figure out. You may be hearing back from me soon. Fairwinds and Happy Thanksgiving!
