    FWC and V-drive..?

After replacing my original 1978 C&C 33 a4 last summer I am completing the installation with a conversion from raw to fresh water cooled. My question is do I need to change the Vdrive cooling port to fresh water as well? Have these vdrive transmissions ever rusted through, as have the blocks? Including the transmission into the fresh water loop will raise the tranny temp from raw water ambient to thermostat controlled 180F.... heat vs corrosion, pick your poison...?

When I did mine, I left my V-drive's cooling in the raw water circuit, not from any great insight or analysis, but simply because it simplified the plumbing.

I have seen photos of the V-drive's cooler split open (it's just a straight pipe internally) by freezing, so proper winterizing of it is very important.

I've not heard of the cooler corroding thru before.
