no oil pressure in recent overhaul

H everyone was putting the final touches on my overhaul. got to the initial startup section of the manual. there was no oil pressure reading on my gauge when cranking . i took apart the oil regulating valve and turned it all the way into the block still nothing. tried turning the engine over with the oil pressure gauge removed and i probably got a tablespoon of oil after 5 seconds of cranking. Is this a normal amount of oil or is my gauge bad?

I can only say that I have hand cranked an A-4 with the oil pressure line removed and had lots of oil come out the fitting. I think cranking with the starter should produce even more.
IIRC there are a few, three I think, internal plugs that have to be installed for the oil to build pressure. Do not have my manual with me so someone else can give you the name and location.
