Oh yeah, before you buy 'fuel stabilizer', read the label and see what's in it. A lot seem to contain alcohol. My thought is that if I have a problem due to alcohol (in my fuel), do I really want to add more alcohol???
It depends on which alcohol is in the fuel stabilizer. If it is a long chain alcohol, maybe 8 or more carbons, with an alcohol group attached to one end of the molecule the polar alcohol end will bind to polar water and the hydrocarbon non polar end will bind to the non polar gasoline. The gasoline is "stabilized" - until the stabilizer is overwhelmed that is.
