I'm under-impressed with the prospect of spending over $500 for a chrome plated pot metal piece that many have had problems with. I bought a used control with almost no markings for $200 due to it largely being made of bronze and machined a new collar for it. It is a little sloppy and not great but I trust it more than the MJB.
It does not seem like an incredibly challenging item to have made even in small quantities but cost prohibitive for one or two. In order to simplify design, it could be two separate spindles rather than concentric at two different depths, etc. Key would be avoiding inappropriate materials and dissimilar metals. Who would buy one?
