I have a 1978 Columbia 8.3 that was given to me from my father, It was purchased in 2003 from a man in Mayo, MD, motored down to Oriental, NC and sat for 3+ years. I have rebuilt and replaced the old A-4 and now moved my boat to Hampton, VA.
I have used Moyer for all my parts and followed their manual as I rebuilt the A-4. I never had any experience with flathead motors but they are probably the simplest engines to work with. Being simple also means old technology as well and that can be tricky.
Thank goodness for Moyer and their fine service and parts.
