    I know I'm being a pain....but

I want to get this right.

Just got the new manifold and I am changing out all of the piping so everything is new. The cooling water input on the top of the manifold on the old one had a coupling with a box on it that attached to the rubber hose and the exit had a street el. I was looking at pictures in the "Pin-up" section for reference and noticed that most have the one with the box for the input and exit. Should I use the "boxy thing" for both or can it be street els??? And what pray tell is the boxy thing called so I don't look like a dummy when I go to buy one??!!

The "boxy" thing is nothing more than a 90 degree 1/2" MNPT by 1/2" hose barb in the "bar stock" style of fitting. There's nothing particularly magic about bar stock fittings other than that they are a lower profile than most other fittings.
