Exhaust manifold question 6 holes-4 cylindres

Hi, I was curious as to why the exhaust manifold and gasket has 6 openings as opposed to 8? I'm thinking it's a 4 cylinder engine so there'd be 8 openings? 4 intake, 4 exhaust?

    4 exhaust, 2 (shared) intake. Exh1, In1/2, Exh2, Exh3, In3/4, Exh4.

Honestly - I never took notice of this before.

      thanks

I had taken off the manifold to install a new exhaust pipe system i made, put everything back together, noticed there wasn't a gasket there . burned away? I dunno, but it always ran fine, anyway I got the new gasket and I hadn't thought about 6 holes versus 8 either before Thanks for the info!
