    Head Gasket Material

Got head off my A4. Took it to machine shop to verify if any cracks in head. They cleaned it and magnafluxed it and said no cracks just warped 8 thousandths. So they shaved it flat. question before I reinstall it:
Can I just lightly ball peen hammer some gasket material against the block to make a new gasket then permatex the material, never seize the nuts and bolts, then torque the head down in proper sequence (what is torque pressure?), or should I buy the moyer marine gasket for the A4?
    Thank you for any answers.

I would purchase a new gasket.

In the A-4 the head gaskets are a composite. The originals were made with asbestos and I believe that the modern replacements are reinforced with graphite. This is quite a bit different than ordinary gasket material.

    Good luck,
