    Engine Oil

Have just completed an engine rebuild. After first 10 hrs re-tourqued head and replaced oil with SAE 30 oil. My question is, at my local parts store I can get 1qt SAE 30 oil or 1 gal of heavy duty SAE 30 oil, can I use either without any problem's but not together.

    Alberg,

Any petroleum engineer is encouraged to weigh in, but I believe you should
be able to use these oils together. My understanding is that the S.A.E.
rating officially defines the specifications of the oil. Terms like "heavy
duty" are in my experience somewhat generic within the market place and not
    necessarily a scientific distinction.

      SAE oils

Don is absoutely corrrect. SAE defines the petroleum characteristics. Super duty/heavy duty/extra strength are all advertising gimmicks. The oils may be used interchangeably. Thank you.

          Engine Oil

Is it best to use detergent oil or non-detergent oil?

          Thanks,
