alternator upgrade

just a thought have you considered taking the standard alternator to a reputable shop and having it beefed up ?

I bought one. Good, marinized alternator with correct footprint for Atomic 4 except I found the pulley on the one I got was longer, setting the belt about 1/8" further away from the alternator toward the distributor than on the original Motorola 35 amp, so I am adjusting the new alternator's fore and aft setting to line it up with the accessory drive and the new water pump for Indigo freshwater cooling. I think I read somewhere that this particular alternator should not be set up with an add-on multiple staged regulator.
