    Member to Member Emails Discontinued

Our Internet Service Provider has verified a hole in our forum software which allows spam to be generated via the member to member email feature. We have disabled this feature for the time being and are searching for a solution.

The private messaging feature is still functional.

Thanks to edwardc for the heads-up, and to all of you for your patience and understanding.

Hey Bill, What is the difference between the two.

I guess I am not popular enough for this email feature?

    Thanks

PM (Personal Messages) are strictly a forum feature allowing any member to send a message to another direrctly, without the whole forum seeing it.
They can only be read from within the forum.

Member-to-member emails is an option that allows one member to send an e-mail to a second member IFF the second member has supplied an email address as part of his or her profile. The email is delivered to an external system (such as Yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc) and must be read using that system. The forum also acts as a sort of proxy in this case, allowing you to send the email without ever actually showing you the e-mail address, providing some measure of privacy.

Member-to-member emails are handy for getting ahold of people who don't check the forum often, or for sending an attachment, which the forum's PM feature doesn't allow.
