    Pearson throttle controls

Has anyone replaced the throttle and trans controls on a pearson 30. Mine are side mount and all the new stuff I'm looking at is single lever dual control. not familiar with these on sailboats. Will it work with the atomic 4?

My Tartan 30 was '73 vintage, and had the double lever control from MarMac. I believe they were bought out by Teleflex. Suspect you have the same or a similar control. Photo?
Mine started giving trouble at about 25 yrs of age. I was able to get it apart (the hard part), clean it up, and restore it.
Trick to disassembly is getting the external hoods off. The smaller throttle hood has a set screw opposite where the throttle rods plugs in. The larger shift hood had the set screw down in the bottom of the shift rod hole. Once they are off, the fasteners to the hull are accessible. A couple of snap rings (buy snap ring pliers) and the whole thing will come to pieces. No stainless as I recall but brass (corroded) and plastic bearings. I was able to clean up the corrosion, lubricate, and reassemble. Good for another 25 years!
edit: should add the the new single lever controls may or may not be compatible, depending primarily on the size of the shift cable. The A4 uses a HEAVY DUTY shift cable. Modern engines with hydraulic transmissions use a shift cable with #10 end fittings and WILL NOT WORK with the A4.

Thanks Al, information is very useful. Sounds similar to what I have. I suspect the bushing is shot though, the center cylinder flops around a bit. If I take it apart like you did I should be able to fabricate something. Thanks
