I had my engine out to fit in a new gas tank. While out, among other things, I adjusted the valves, rebuilt the mechanical fuel pump and added the recommended polishing fuel filter with the kits from Moyer Marine. I have a Racor upstream.
After I put it back together, my yard, who tested the engine while still out of the boat, wants me to remove the extra filter saying it created too much pressure (fuel was slow to go through system, but eventually did), was not made for boats and for the pressure, and is dangerous because it is just below the pipes in my exhaust configuration.
Anything to their objections? They tend to bristle when I add anything new, or they are not used to seeing. They will be reinstalling the engine--not me. Maybe I should just add it after they install it.
