exhaust manifold stud just broke

Anyone ever heard of an exhuast manifold stud "just breaking" ?
Broken at the top of the threads. Just pulled out of the engine by my hand. Never turned it with a tool.

Held no more

barrett, yes I have. My neighbor a few years back came back into the marina with all the crew looking annoied ON DECK and the engine sounding like an open exhaust tractor. Well his exhaust fell off the manifold at Catalina so he motorted off the mooring and sailed most of the way back. When the wind died he motored for a few hours with the bilge pump working OT. He kept the engine box open as well as every hatch on board and the laz. I helped him fabricate a new exhaust and we did manage to save the manifold.
