    Replacing electric fuel pump

Since I have been having frequent engine shutdowns, I am considering replacing my electric fuel pump. I wonder if I should also replace my oil pressure safety switch too. My experience in last month is that I can get the engine to run continuously for an hour, no shutdowns, but , then, on another day, it will shut down after only a few minutes. Can eventually get it started again, but often has several shutdowns before it will run for awhile. My filters are relatively new, and engine runs and idles smoothly, when running.

Unless you like wasting time and money replacing the wrong part, I would recommend doing some diagnostics. A pressure gauge in the line to the carb (or at the carb inlet) will verify that you have indeed lost fuel pressure. A test light will tell you whether the fuel pump is getting electrical power. If you lose fuel pressure and the test light is ON, only then would I consider replacing the pump.
