No fire..... throw me a rope.

Is there supposed to be a rubber grommet to isolate the screw on the side of the distributor where the coil wire/condensor wire attaches (to prevent it from shorting). I can't seem to get fire, I think I shorted the new condensor. Throw me a rope.

    Thanks,
    Ang

    Ang,

You appear to be talking about an early model Prestolite distributor. If this is the case, the answer is "yes"; the terminal coming through the body of the distributor must be insulated from the distributor itself or the coil will be continually charged and a secondary discharge will not be possible. You can see what the insulating materials look like here in the early model ignition section of our online catalog.
