Let's hope this drop can turn into a trickle...

How crazy are things that we are happy at such a small thing?!

If ya don't ask, ya don't get. I just finished sending three emails to my state legislative representative and senators referencing Florida's action. Where's the harm in trying?

I have heard that a local restaurant with a ramp and gas dock has ethanol free fuel.

I need to confirm..If true, I think it is the only place on the western shore of the Chesapeake with no-ethanol gas...if you do not count the local airport with 100 octane low-lead fuel at $6/gallon..there are a few on the Eastern Shore apparently, but they are not nearby.

I posted it to my facebook. Lots of boaters, fishermen, lay fishermen etc here. Ethanol gas is not worth one life so the boating community should be all over this. As it is, I can still get gas without ethanol...but I don't know for how much longer.

We've 'enjoyed' a steady diet of it for quite a while in California, the land of fruits and nuts. If your fuel system is in pristine condition from deck fill to carburetor ethanol should not be a problem. Contamination inside the tank seems to be the most common issue by far.

If ethanol free gasoline became available I'd prefer it but in truth ethanol has given me no problems in the 8 years I've owned my boat.

Gonna replace my deck fill O-rings (2) this week.

            edit:
Our climate may help avoid tank moisture problems. If I lived in an area with real seasons I think I'd keep my tank(s) full all the time, a measure subject to varying opinions.

              Sent to my facebook: FWIW

Our Ethanol is made from corn, from fields once used to grow food. Ethanol produces 19% more CO2 than gasoline, which has already caused an increase in smog related medical problems and asthma in large US cities. But it's political and the subsidies to the farmers are huge, so the Lobbyists keep screaming that Ethanol makes the US less reliant on foreign oil... Regardless of all costs.

but back to our regularly scheduled program . . .
Oh yeah, for sure it's political. Ethanol is small potatoes in California. We're building a multi-billion dollar high speed rail system from L.A. to San Fran that will never achieve the mandated travel time between the two. In fact, there's a lawsuit against it saying just that, you sold the electorate the idea based on false promises, THAT'S FRAUD by any definition.

Besides, they'll never make a passenger rail system that comes close in time or cost to what we already have in Southwest Airlines. Nevertheless, the billions are still being spent.
