R terminal on solenoid for ACR SI wire?

I'm finally wiring up the engine and new charging system.

There is a third terminal on the A4 starter solenoid, the "R" terminal. Am I correct in understanding that it is only hot (12 volts) when the engine is cranking?

The SI interrupt wire on the Blue Sea automatic charging relay is designed to termporarily un-parallel the engine start and house batteries during cranking. I could attach it to the S terminal on the solenoid, but why not use the R terminal, if that accomplishes the same function? Better one wire per terminal than two when possible.
