    Engine continues to accelerate

When I set the throttle on my engine, the engine continues to increase its RPM. To slow it down, I retard the throttle, but nothing happens until I have retarded the throttle a significant amount. Looking for a solution to the problem.

Control/cable problem. Check for play in the control mechanism, play in the control cable terminations but most importantly, the security of the clamp that holds the outer cable sheath at both ends.

Check the clamps that hold the outer sheaf and then check the set screws on the cables at both ends. If they look and feel good look along the outer sheaf for rust or the cable popping out the side. The cables are pretty easy to replace depending on access.
