Engine dies when full throttle applied

Situation: Engine not run for several months. Very low fuel level in tank. Added 5 gals fuel..was difficult to start...only with vigorous manipulation of Choke was engine coaxed into running @ mid-high rpms..fuel pump sediment bowl was removed and found to have lots of crud in it..Cleaned it out.Engine will run @ slow but dies when throttle applied...

Your symptoms are very consistent with a dirty carburetor, probably mostly within the main jet.
