I have just pulled my atomic 4. It has been reliably pushing my Tartan 34 through the water for 22 years, and I know it has many more good years to give. The only reason this is happening is because of a cruise planned next year
with some sailing buddies to Newfoundland. I know the engine could do it ,but some persuading from my friends and the fact that they bought me a new beta 25 diesel won me over-(Ken was not impressed), but it was not an easy decision.
The main reason for the longevity of this engine, I believe,is the fact that it is fresh water cooled.I did a compression check last year and Ken said there's nothing wrong with the engine. The starter and solenoid were rebuilt last year and every thing has been kept in running order. I did notice just before I took the boat out last fall, however, that the raw water pump will need a new seal- there is a slight drip.
Included:spare impellors, spare electronic fuel pump, Racor fuel filter/water seperator, and spare belts. selling for: $1000.00
