Bonding the shaft to ground to prevent electrolysis

I have had some minor electrolysis going on on my prop. I have had a zinc on the shaft, but I was told perhaps the problem is that the shaft isn't properly bonded to other underwater metal parts. One person suggested to my neighbor boat that they put a brush on the shaft and bond it to the engine ("ground"). I tested the resistance between the shaft and ground on the engine and found it to be zero (or the lowest reading on th ohm meter anyway). Am I missing somthing, or does that indicate a bursh to the shaft and ground would be superfluous?

    Jim,

I recommend that you call Tom Stevens. He has had some similar experience with the props that he manufactures for Indigo Electronics. Tom and I were talking about this very subject almost a year ago, but I forget what he said. I suggest you call him directly at 1 (800) 428-8569.
