    Ignition and Start switch loads

I am installing a new instrument and electrical panel for my A4.

I would like to use a set of simple toggle switches for the ignition, accesories, and start functions of the usual multi-function key switch.

Does anyone know the approximate loads on the ignition and starter (relay) circuits?

    Britton,

Not exactly sure how you're going to be tying things together, but we've been recommending 20 fuse protection for the ignition system, and I would consider the amp loading on the starter solenoid to be about the same. In other words, your switches should be at least 20 amp.

Thanks Don, that gives me a good place to work from.

Basically I want to use separate switches for the multiple contacts found in the start switch. It is a personal idiosyncrasy of mine. I dislike keys and think they are silly on a boat (and I keep losing them)and simple toggle switches are more reliable (arguably I admit).

A SPST toggle switch each to connect the blower, ignition, and engine instrument circuits and a momentary push button switch for the starter is what I have in mind.

      Thanks again,
