    Plugs

Having a tough time finding NGK XR4 spark plugs. Is there a reasonable facsimile thereof ?

I don't know of any substitute and it was the engine rebuilders here in Halifax that put me on to them about 5 yrs ago. At the time I wasn't too sure how they would work but there's 400+ hrs on them now...so they work fine. They do run a little hotter than what MMI suggests...Dave Neptune has had good results with his plugs as well and I believe he uses different ones that I do.

For what it is worth I have only run Champion RJ12's for the last 34 years and each set runs for at least 4~5 (300~400 hours) years or more. Love my E/I. Never had one foul even after idling for hours on end at times.

I would run the RJ8's but there a bit harder to find. The colder plug you can run the more power you can make! Very important on direct drives.

I found a local shop which could order the NGKs. Should have them next week. This weekend we go yachting!
