    Raw water pump installation

I've seen several examples now of what seem to be raw water pumps in FWC systems that are mounted directly on the engine, just over the fly wheel. (eg. October '04 pin-up)

Mine is mounted on a rather flimsy bracket braced by two fly wheel cover bolts.

Is there a system (or secret) to fixing the pump on the engine? This installation looks to be more secure, with less possibility for flexing due to the mounting bracket.

My installation also had about seven washers on each mounting bolt to get the allignment correct. Not good.

My bracket is mounted on the stbd side of the engine. It shares one
bolt with the upper engine-mounted water pump and shares the
    fan belt with the alternator.

      Kelly,

You can see a picture of our sea water pump mounting system in our online catalog. Notice that the mount itself attaches on the upper starter bolt, and the adjusting bolt rests on top of the flywheel housing.
