Hello People,
I'm so glad for this forum and the community. I've had Austerity for just two years now and she has been wonderful girl. She is a 1972 Pearson with the original engine. I've learned so much with the hicups I've had in the last two years. I've learned about condensers, points, plugs, and transmission issues.
This year I I'm learning about cooling issues. I've just read for about two hours and after reading all the threads I'm thinking tomorrow I'll give her a acid flush.
This is how I came to this conclusion. Raw water cooled, winterized fine, after finding the points closed over the winter and adjusting them she fired right up. Ok so that's good. Checked exhaust water is coming out cool, I let her run for a while then got water with alot of steam. So i checked the impellar, thermostat, hoses from impellar through the by pass. All in good shape. So my guess next is to do the Acid flush. BTW, some of these engines I've seen look like showroom condition, hats off to you guys.
Greg
