    Drive shaft replacement

    Hi.
I own a Catalina 27 with an Atomic 4 engine. The boat was manufactured in 1979. I need to replace the drive shaft and I would appreciate any advice on were I can locate shafts for that boat and what kind of alloy would be best. The current shaft is 32 inches long and is 1 inch in diameter. I will also need to replace the drive shaft coupling from the motor to the shaft. I will also be replacing the cutlass bearing.

I am in Salt Lake City (laughing is ok) and use the boat on the salt lake.

    Thanks for your time.

    Gary Stephenson

ps. the serial number on the Atomic 4 is 203893 and the model number is 5101

    Gary,

We have had several prop shafts made at a local machine shop that has done a lot of work for us over a large number of years. The name of the shop is Nye Machine and Design in Hummelstown PA. Their phone number is (717) 533-9514. You can find the prop shaft couplings in our online catalog.
