    Erickson 35 rudder head

I know this is a little naughty, but the boat does have an A4 in it!
I know there are loads of people out there with 1970s sailboats perhaps with the same problem.
I need to replace the Chromed/bronze rudder head that connects the tiller bar to the rudder on this 1976 Erickson 35. The original may be Edson but there is no markings on it, and current Edson catalogs do not show anything that will fit the 3 inch rudder stock.
Any information to track one down will be apprieciated
    Thanks Anyone
Its a boat... what can possibly go wrong.....?

I just replaced this part on my 1965 Pearson Vanguard. The original one had become egged out a little bit and was always loose. I decided to have a new one fabricated by Rodger at Bristol Bronze in RI. There are a few drawbacks with making copies in bronze. The copy will be smaller because of how much the bronze shrinks when cooled. I had to have the tiller fitting shimmed to fit the slightly smaller rudder post cap.

The cost for the rudder post was aound $350 plus another $100 to have the stainless tiller fitting shimmed.

you may want to call bacon sails in Annapolis MD. They have tons of old boat parts. Of course you will be buying an old part. I didn't want to go down that road so I had a new part made. A part like this on you boat will only break at the worst possible time, like in a storm .

      Post your question here: http://www.ericsonyachts.org/

The forums are under the "Information Exchange" link on the opening page.

I would not be at all surprised if another Ericson owner has one they would be willing to part with.
