A-4 For Sale - Older Model

    Hello,

I have an older model A-4 with direct drive transmission. I got this engine from someone who re-powered his boat with a diesel and since he owed me money, he gave me the engine.

Here's what I know about it:

    The Bad

    Needs a starter
    Needs an Alternator
Compression test by a potential buyer showed one very low cylinder (dead), (2) at 60, and (1) at 125. I saw his boat underway with this engine when he went to the boatyard and another harbor so he must have been just limping along I guess.

    The Good

    2 Carbs included
    Electronic Ignition
    Not rusty at all
Has exhaust pipe and mixing elbow
    Alternator belt
    A-4 Misc manuals
Great Oberdorfer water pump - I think I may have spares with it

LOCATION: Easily viewed in Channel Islands Harbor / Ventura, California

I also have a stainless steel 3-blade propeller for it (Indigo) for an additional $150 separately or included with sale of engine for $100.

Bottom line price is $500. for engine OR $600. for engine and stainless steel propeller. I will part the engine out - call and let me know what you need.

Shipping would require crating the engine, coordinating shipping pick up, etc and can be done but it's going to cost a lot to ship and crate. My phone number is (805) 701-8160 / (800) 200-8839.

She's a beaut for sure...early early model also. Going to need thermostat too. I love the color.

Unfortunately it's 188 miles from me.

Can't read the serial number / year but I guess it's a 1963-4 but as requested by a few, here's a photo of it.

This looks like the white engine you had for sale back in August...but with a considerable amount of work done to it. Can you tell me what you've done to it?

This is my 777th post! Should I play the lottery today?

                    Engine from Past

Yes, this is the engine. It cleaned up really easy with a light abrasive pad and painted. The light rust that was on the engine was nothing. No pitting. Easy clean up. I cleaned it up because a few people said it looked bad in photos. I didn't think it looked too bad in person so I thought what the heck, clean it up, maybe it will sell. Probably should have sprayed it with the Moyer paint. Just got some a month ago for a Universal Diesel that I have.

I don't have time otherwise I'd rebuild it myself. Not sure if I want to invest in that just to sell it though.

Seems like a decent price for a good rebuild candidate.

Tell me more about your trips to San Diego. I wouldn't want you to make an unnecessary trip down here for no reason.
