    Stalls when powered up

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We have a late model A4. The engine was idling and running fine from Tampa to St. Pete. The next morning everything ran fine until we left the Marina. The engine stalled. When started again it idled slowly and stalled at the slightest and slowest increase on the throttle.

I pulled the main fuel line to the carb. It is getting fuel.

(p.s. we did change the after market fuel filter installed near the tank.)

It sounds like you may have a restriction somewhere in the carburetor. I would start by checking the main jet for an obstruction.

Exactly the symptoms I had and the problem was that the exhaust system was clogged (with carbon and rust) and producing too much back pressure for the engine above idle.

Remove the exhaust pipe from the engine and see if it runs OK. Warning, it will be loud as hell!

      Good luck,
