Vented Riser- anti-siphon device

Well it finally arrived from Forespar.com

Below is a photo of my hot water hose before the change. Not much height in that loop.

Then a couple of photos showing the new installation. An aluminum "L" bar acts as a support.

I never knew I needed a vented riser. But a couple of cases of water in the cylinders made me a quick learner.

Also, my old hose was, well, old hose. The new hose is ITALIAN and has spiral metal wire in the rubber. More expensive, but probably worth it (plus it looks really cool...).

Rick, you have a very similar problem as I do. I took mine into the cabin which gave me another foot of rise and it still failed after a few months maybe a year. There just isn't enough water height to work the valve once it gets some time on it. The work fine if you can get at laest 2 plus feet. That's why I went to a manual, it works as well a the "eye dee ten tee" behind the helm remembers.

Rick..you are on the right track...you need to confirm that the 'riser' is above the static water line, (the higher the better!!) so when you turn off the engine, the siphon is broken and the water doesn't back up...it also needs to stay on centerline as you can obviously figure out that to one side creates a big huge bias.

You are a little 'under the gun' with the height restrictions of the cockpit..but might be OK...can you take a pic of the riser in its position from maybe the mast compression post facing aft? I need to refresh my memory on the C-27 layout.

i am getting ready to put my C-30 back together, and I'll try to remember to snap appropriate pics that show the layout..it isn't ideal either, (it would be nice to get it over my head!!!) but it is as high as practical.
