    A sad fairwell

    To all you AFOURIANS

I was very happy joining this site 3 years ago. I was new to the A-4 and knew nothing about it.

All of you have taught me well. From learning 101 to almost an expert. I also got to the point where I could actively contribute.

    I thank you all.

I kept my Morgan 30 at the Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, NJ and it was totaled by hurricane Sandy. Nothing to rescue.

I will visit this site from time to time and see if I could help with someones problem.

If anyone is interested, photos with the link below

Again, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP

    Sincerely,

    Bill

It looks to me like you at least have an Atomic 4 to rescue!! No?

I'm sure someone on this list would love to buy it from you - or you could part it out on eBay and at least get a little something in cash back to try to offset the loss a bit.

Very sorry to see this happen to you - those pics are hard to look at.

      Oh what to say

Bill, that's absolutely terrible, I can't even imagine what I would do in a similar circumstance. Perhaps as Bill stated you could salvage the A-4 and possibly the keel. The lead may be worth something although I would imagine to local scrap prices are going to drop some.

      So sad

Sweet Baby Cheeses! Those pictures are downright scary.
Looks like the entire Raritan YC fleet got destroyed. My condolences to all.

I thought that the Nyack Boat Club had it bad with about 1/2 of the moored boats breaking loose. We were quite fortunate in comparison. By some divine miracle our boat floated through Sandy on her mooring. Now we have a 'noreaster bearing down on us Weds. night.

        Sorry for your loss wmmulvey.

          How you doing Bill.

Sorry to see the loss of your boat Bill....just terrible. Although safe in Nova Scotia today I see where the saying "all in the same boat" came from. No one escaped damage in that pile, all owners likely distraught over the ordeal.

I'm not going to offer any advice at this time except sit back and take stock of the situation. Bye the way, always enjoyed you on the forum here. Hope your home and other possessions fared better and everyone is well.

Take care and I hope insurance at least replaces any cash you had into it...not much of a condolence but I don't like to see people have to take a loss on something they have no control over.

All the best to you Afourian Friend.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. The level of devestation continues to overwhelm me. Here on Long Islands North Shore, we suffered significant wind damage from downed trees, but we are pretty far above sea level, so no storm surge damage. I'm a couple of hundred feet from the water, but 75 feet above sea level. We just got power back, but my kids can't go back to school yet. That's an inconvenience, but I can't imagine what you are going through.

You have bigger fish to fry, I'm sure, but think about what you can salvage. If the A4 didn't go under, you'll get plenty of interest. Even if it did, you'll get interest. When the dust settle a little, post some ideas.

                Best of luck.

                  Lost

It is hard to fathom what such an event will mean to your communities and your clubs and your lives.

We hear the coast itself has changed.

Can anyone guess how many boats are gone?

Same goes for a West coast trip Bill, anytime.

Have you formed up any plan re: a replacement boat? Thinking along those lines at all?

Man, I've seen ugly before, but that is UGLY! Hopefully the boat was insured, in which case salvage will be the insurer's concern, not yours. Whatever's left after they pay off a total belongs to them, and is their problem.

I find the devastation almost unbelievable. It takes an amazing force to destroy boats like that.

My family was hit very hard in NY, mostly wiped out. Boats too. They tell me that the storm lasted a long time too. One cousin stayed on his motor boat the whole time. He said that he is lucky to be alive.
