    Help Identifying Small Parts

    Hello crew:

I did the spray can rebuild of the Atomic 4 in my Newport 30 and had two parts that I forgot where they go - can you identify them?

The copper colored thing looks like a clamp...

The brass colored thing is threaded on the inside and has ridges around the outside edge - it may not have come off the engine - I just found it with the engine parts when reassembling the engine...

If you want to see the rebuild - here is the link...

    Nice job.

I need to remove the cooling water cover plate as well at some point. I am afraid of what I'll find having seen your pictures.
I don't recognize the piece that may have been left out of your rebuild but I don't have enough experience to comment intelligently. All I can say is that it looks like it was part of the original engine given the paint etc.
I took a look at some of the exploded diagrams but could not find it: http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/ca...rintoperators=
    Best of luck.

The Part in the picture is part of the

choke cable tiedown on the carburetor.

I don't recognize the other part as Being from an A-4.....Looks like the male part of a canvas snap?

I also believe that it is a choke cable hold-down.

          Much appreciated...

          choke cable tie-down...

Now I can get to it and finish-up.

          As for the other part...

at first I thought it might be from the carburator... knurled edge to turn by hand and threaded interior - but only perhaps a 1/16-inch hole???

again - just because I found it in the parts box does not mean it came from the engine tear-down...

            knob

At first glance, it does looks like a snap, but I think it's a electrical terminal hand nut.

Or, one of those hand nuts for a water pump.
Is there something like a cabinet door that has a tighten-able proprod?

Or, it's the top to the wireless telegraph key. How old is your VHF?

            update:
I just now thought they might be related. The hand nut goes with the choke Maybe?
The previous owner maybe set it up to adjust easier.

Reminds me of those "extra parts" my dad always had left over after working on our family car.

I'm surprised it hasn't been said yet so I'll say it: nice job!!

                Carl,
That little thingy looks like the thumb nut that tensions the sediment bowl to the mechanical fuel pump, between the bowl and the wire bail.

                  Thingy - Identify Part

                  You know...

I thought the same thing... and I bet the part was actually embedded in a plastic plate or had a knob which is why it has the knurled edge... perhaps like a thing to mount a circuit board...

anyway - we are all pretty sure it did not come from the A4 so I am good to go.

I thought it was the male ("stud") portion of a canvas snap fastener, as in the attached image, with the ridges present to dissuade the fitting from rotating in place.

                      The small brass one

I think I know what is would be for - but not that it belongs anywhere on the A4...

it is a cable-end adjuster... the threaded end of something goes through it and the rounded cup seats against something that the cable passes through and the knurled end is twisted by hand to adjust cable or needle to the proper spot.
