    A4 Head; Vintage 1978 (Pearson 28)

Greetings to All! I am being hampered with a coolant water leak on the Alternator side just behind cylinder 1. I had to pull out a bit early last fall, had surgery that limited my activities, and by the time I could get to winterization, we had experienced 1 freeze that was bad enough to pop a freeze plug. When I started to winterize, I found a horizontal in the exhaust manifold that produces a fine spray. On the other side, there was a fine stream of coolant water shooting out and dousing the alternator.
I acquired a good used manifold which is working fine.
However, I am still getting the stream coming out of the alternator side, ableit, much smaller, afer installing 2 new head gaskets
I pulled the head again today and will be taking it to a machine shop to check and fix any warping.
Any thoughts or advise is welcomed!
    Scott

If you've got a small crack in the block, JB weld it. Then lower the coolant pressure over the longterm.
