I have a 32 Pearson with a a-4 and my trans. is making a whining noise in rev.
It sound loud and I was wondering is this normal. neal nelson thank you..........

I think that it is normal for reverse to be loud, even with a little clatter. At least mine is, and I've heard that other's are.
Your posting is in the "intro" section of the site, might be better if posted in one of the other categories like "Reversing Gear".

Reversing gear noise

Yes, a whining in reverse is quite normal with the A4. I know that it blew my mind the 1st time I tried reverse. I thought that I had a real lemon on my hands...I have a 1966 Pearson Coaster and she WHINES in reverse. Don's notes indicate that that is normal.
