    MMI 501 raw water pump

I bought teh MMI raw water pump several years ago. when I started up my engine for the first timethe pump had seized. Any one else having trouble with this pump? I had winterized the engine as usual

I dont have one, but you might want to tell a bit more about what you found when you took it apart...

Where the bearings rusted and seized. Was it the shaft that was seized?

How many winters had it been sitting? What was your winterizing process? I bought the MMI 502 pump seven years ago and it has worked flawlessly under some nasty conditions. Don't despair... they are easy to take apart, inspect and service. What exactly is "frozen"? I'm assuming the bearings, but then again, I don't see how they would corrode and "freeze" if you winterized with antifreeze or even freshwater.

I bought my MMI 501 pump used from another sailor nearly 10 years ago.
Mine has survived that many winters flawlessly.

Thanks for the replies. I don't know why the seal leaked but one of the bearings froze. Spoke to Don and , as usual , he was very respnsive
