My family and I were recently on vacation in the Gulf Islands, British Columbia. first came a chewed up impeller and over heating, which I solved after a long walk to Gartside. Two Days later, I blew a head gasket. Ben Gartside of Gartside Marine was at my boat half an hour after the tow boat left me at the dock.
I was certain I would have to have parts flown out from Moyer Marine and coax a reluctant off-duty mechanic through the gasket change. Na uh. Ben had the gaskets in stock--didn't even raise and eyebrow. In under 31/2 hours he had the motor running strong again.
Gartside's crew appear to be generalists with an eye for both gas and diesels of the vintage most of us have. But you can imagine my relief when he quickly and effortlessly put my 40 year old engine back on its way.
