    Ammeter show always "0"

    Hi everybody!!!
I just installed a new Balmar 621-70-SR-IG alternator on a MD!!C Volvo Penta engine of my sailing boat.

I connected (among others) the Positive output of it, through the Ammeter to the "Batt" end of ignition Switch, then to the (+) of the solenoid (starter) and finally after that to the (+) pole of the battery.

Though, when i start the engine, i read almost 14V on the voltmeter (I was reading 12,8 with the engine off), the reading on the Ammeter is 0 !!!

Could you please tell me possible reasons for this troubleshooting?
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

    Spyros,

With a charging voltage of 14 and 12.8 volts showing on your battery with
the engine off, it appears that your alternator is working OK. I would
    suspect the ammeter.

      you was right..

      Dear Don,
you was right. It was the ammeter damaged.
As soon as i changed it, i saw changing current on the new one.
Thank you very much for your advice.
