    Adjustable main jet

If you over tighten the 1/2-inch hex-head nut of the needle assembly when installing the adjustable main jet, will its sealing washer recover its original shape when the nut is loosened, or does the sealing washer have to be replaced?

If you don't tighten the 1/2-inch hex-head nut enough, when you loosen the 5/16-inch packing gland nut to adjust the needle, the 1/2-inch hex-head nut also loosens, and you have to start again from scratch.

    BBH,

Overtightening the 1/2" nut on the adjustable main jet will usually stretch the sealing washer and cause it to crack. On the other hand, it should be possible to tighten the 1/2" nut sufficiently to prevent the main body of the jet assembly from turning while loosening the 5/16" gland nut.

If your sealing washer is still working (to prevent leaking), I'd use a 1/2" open-end wrench to hold the large nut while working the little gland nut.
