I met someone the other day who made a 5 mile trip in a boat he had
just bought. When he anchored he found the spark plug wires had
melted where they were in contact with the block and ever since then
he hasn't been able to get his motor to start. The wires have been
replaced, as have the spark plugs, which were badly fouled.
He tells me his scavenge tube from the carb. is missing and the hole has
been sealed up with a brass plug. I wonder if this has changed the
idle mixture and if it needs to be adjusted.
He also reports gas puddling in the bottom of the carb. so I keep asking
him to bring it in so I can look at it and blow out the passages and
dress up the needle valve seat.
